I have a Set to Go by Clairol that lasted 20+ years but now I am trying to get by with these Helen of Troy Travel 5 Roller. The first set lasted less than a year and now I have two new sets that don't heat all rollers evenly and I have yet to fiqure out the pattern...is it the roller or the heat element..Clairol where are you when I need you????? I have used an almost identical travel hot roller set every day for at least the last 20 years! It finally started getting temperamental, so I began shopping for the same product in the stores. Much to my dismay, I could not locate it. I didn't know what I was going to do, until I thought to check on Amazon. Lo and behold, I found it! My old one was a Vidal Sassoon, but I remembered that when I have ordered replacement parts for VS blow dryers in the past, they came from the company called Helen of Troy, so I assumed this was the same product - different name. Thankfully, I was right! It works great! Just like my old set. I have no problems with the roller pins being "too small" as someone said in another review. If the pins are flying off, you're trying to roll up too much hair on one roller! The rollers heat evenly and I just love the results I get with them. This is a great product when it is working properly, but like someone else who commented on this item, I have the exact same problem. After about 2 years of minimal usage (maybe 15 - 20 times), two of the rollers no longer get hot. Not sure if it's the rollers or the heating unit. Very frustrating. When all five rollers were working it was awesome!! |
